R.Bourgeois, a Family Story
We specialise in the production and supply of rotor and stator magnetic circuits for the electric motor, generator and transformer industries, in addition to designing and manufacturing high-precision carbide cutting tools. R.bourgeois remains a family business that is proud of its roots. The family members still head up the company and ensure its expansion. Although the Arcelor Mittal Group is now one of its shareholders, the company’s managers continue to impart core values. Raymond Bourgeois’ family has worked hard to ensure the founder’s legacy and proudly continues to expand the company in its growth markets.

Creation of the Company
- In the midst of the 1929 crisis, Mr Bourgeois founded his company at 71 rue Battant with only a few machines and a second-hand press. His wife was the first press operator.
1960
1964
- Raymond Bourgeois, the current Chairman of the Board of Directors, came to support his father with the company’s smelting workshop.
1970
1975
- Under the leadership of Raymond Bourgeois, the company rapidly expanded with its first export markets.
1976
- The founder, Raymond Bourgeois, died two years after cutting back on his duties as head of the company, followed by his wife in 1979.
1980
1989
Purchasing New Subsidiaries
- The company purchased two subsidiaries: Scoder in Pirey and RBH in Courgenay, Switzerland.
1990
1990
Beginnings with ARCELOR
- Belgian steel metallurgy company ARBED became a shareholder of R. Bourgeois. ARBED merged with ACERALIA in Spain and USINOR in France, later becoming the ARCELOR Group.
1996
Third Generation at R.bourgeois
- Raymond Nicolas Bourgeois, the current Managing Director, and Olivier Bourgeois, the current Deputy Managing Director, started working in the business alongside their father.
1998
- The Chinese subsidiary, R.Bourgeois Shanghai, was created. It moved to Haining in 2010 as it successfully expanded.

- The family Mittal Group purchased ARCELOR. Our shareholder became ARCELOR Mittal.
Expansion of R.Bourgeois
- Phase 1 of the company’s expansion as a new shipping area larger than 10,000 m2 was built.

2012
2012, First Ultra-Precision Machining Centre in Europe
- The company R.bourgeois opened the first European machining centre for ultra precision and finishing, with extremely high precision tool blocks used for vehicle drives.
Expansion of R.Bourgeois
- Phase 2 of the expansion with the purchase of former police barracks with an area of 18,000 m2 from the town of Besançon.
R.bourgeois, A Rank 1 Supplier in the Automotive Industry
- R.bourgeois became a ‘Rank 1’ supplier after winning the Renault Z. E. market. This was the first vehicle manufacturing customer that it supplied directly.
2014
Opening a Factory in Mexico
- Creation of the R.Bourgeois JFE Shoji Magnetic Laminations subsidiary in Tijuana, Mexico.

- Phase 3 of the expansion, adding a further 10,000 m2 that was operational the same year.
2021
- In September 2021, R.bourgeois acquired a majority share in the cutting company CAPINOX.
2022
A new site was opened in China.
- A new Chinese subsidiary was created and R.bourgeois opened a factory in Jiangsu.
